Marchand D'or dominates Deauville
Marchand D'or showed a lot of va-va-voom as he took his place in racing's record books with an easy win in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville on Sunday.
The Freddie Head-trained five-year-old, winner of Newmarket's July Cup last month, showed his trademark turn of foot to beat African Rose and secure a hat-trick of victories in the Group 1 event. Belliflore came home in third, while Richard Fahey's Utmost Respect finished fourth.
Meanwhile, Godolphin's stuttering season suffered another blow with the news that 2006 Derby fourth Hala Bek who made a winning comeback at Nottingham, is injured again.
