The antepost market in League Two has been all about one team - Shrewsbury Town. Punters have smashed into the prices available for Shrewsbury, backing them from 28-1 all the way down to 7-1 favourites. Shrews manager Paul Simpson has tasted success at this level and he has purchased well in the close season. Grant Holt and Richard Walker should score the goals to fire Shrewsbury up the table but the men from the Prostar Stadium are too short now at a best price 8-1. Big Tips followers however, are already sitting pretty as we advised 2pts each way on Shrewsbury at 14/1 on July 5th.
The Football League seem determined to turn the League Two relegation battle into a farce with points deductions given to Luton, Rotherham and Bournemouth. We at Big Tips would love to know how they came up with exactly 17 point deductions for both the Cherries and the Millers?
From a betting perspective, we’re fairly certain of one thing this season - expect goals in League Two. With the pressure off, expect many teams to throw caution to the wind early on in the season – especially now the threat of relegation has been lifted by the buffoons at the Football League. Big Tips will be seeking to take advantage if the bookmakers fail to take this into account during the season.
Lincoln City are a team that we expect to go well, Peter Jackson made the best of his spell on the sidelines through illness to instigate a number of shrewd looking purchases for the Imps. Last season apart, Lincoln are usually always up there challenging for promotion and this season appear to have a good mix of experience and youth – back them each way at 20/1.
Gillingham, along with Wycombe, are another team we expect to go well in League Two this season. One way to get with the Gills could be in the top scorer market – we think Ladbrokes have made a mistake in pricing Simeon Jackson at 40/1. He might sound like a girl but he knows where the goal is and should give us a good run for our money each way at 40/1.
