A game played by men with odd-shaped...
Yes its Rugby we’re talking about here ! Actually, its increasingly played by women also – England’s Women XV won the Grand Slam again this year.
This coming weekend gets down to the serious side of Europe’s premier club competition, The Heineken Cup quarter-finals
Leicester Tigers v Bath ( Sat )
Cardiff Blues v Toulouse ( Sat )
Munster v Ospreys ( Sun )
Harlequins v Leinster ( Sun )
To date there have been 48 quarter-finals, with the current 8 sides making up 44 of these appearances. Munster (10) and Toulouse (9) lead the way here. This will be Munster’s 11th consecutive quarter-final appearance – a record. Not surprisingly four of their players ( John Hayes(10), Peter Stringer, David Wallace and Anthony Foley (9 each) , top the charts for player appearances at this knockout stage.
Harlequins and Ospreys have never made it to the semi-finals before. That said, on current form Harlequins, along with Leicester, Munster and Cardiff Blues, seem likely semi-finalists. Unlike football, the semi-final pairings are already predetermined. Saturday’s winners will meet in the Millennium Stadium whilst Sunday’s victors will do battle in Ireland. This makes it all the more likely that Munster will repeat last year’s feat and lift the Cup for the third time. bigtips.co.uk think you would be mad the bet against them!
