Adlington seeing the money for sports personality
Bookies have been forced to cut the odds about double Gold Medal winning swimmer Rebecca Adlington winning the BBC TV Sports Personality of the Year Award from 11/4 to 6/4 after taking a five figure gamble on her.
Our man on the inside said 'We suddenly saw a string of bets of up to £500 a time for Becky during afternoon trading, forcing her odds down substantially, which is unusual in a market as mature as this one. It is the biggest gamble we've ever seen at this stage of the event'.
As a result, William Hills lengthened favourite Lewis Hamilton from 1/2 to 4/5, and third favourite Chris Hoy from 9/2 to 5/1. Hills also offer 33/1 Joe Calzaghe; 40/1 Andy Murray; 80/1 Ben Ainslie; Christine Ohuruogu; Bradley Wiggins; 100/1 Nicole Cook; Rebecca Romero.
