Atlantic Sport not living up to expectations
Atlantic Sport's lofty reputation took another knock after he failed in the Jupiter Unit Trust Managers Conditions Stakes at Newbury yesterday, backed into a very slight 4/6 - the powerful three year old could only finish second.
Bigtips.co.uk of course could never back a horse with such short odds, we like to look at the longer priced outsiders with the odd favourite thrown in.
All seemed to be going to plan for much of the seven-furlong race with Richard Hughes even allowing himself a brief glance through his legs as the three-year-old travelled powerfully two furlongs out.
But his mount did not find what was required at the business end of affairs and lost out to Bryan Smart's winner by three-quarters of a length.
Channon said of his Group One-entered colt: "Richard said they couldn't go fast enough for him early, but he didn't find what you thought he might.
"I don't know what to say really. We'll take him home, have a look and start again as he does have a lot of ability."
