Rain, rain - here to stay, Newton Abbot washed away
This afternoon's fixture at Newton Abbot has been abandoned due to a massive amount of rain. Bigtips.co.uk is not happy with this news at all.
Following 22 millimetres of overnight rain, officials at the track staged a 6am inspection - after which the track was found to be waterlogged and unsafe to race.
With further heavy showers forecast, clerk of the course Jason Loosemore accepted the situation had already grown untenable.
He said: "It's a fine morning but there is more rain to come and the track was unable to take 22 millimetres of rain."
An inside source was this morning blaming Prime Minster Gordon Brown - "We've barely had a sunny day since he's taken over" they said.
