Hunt for new Sunderland gaffer
Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has begun his search for a new manager with Sam Allardyce favourite to take over. Roy Keane resigned as boss on Thursday after 27 months in charge with the club 18th in the Premier League.
But former Newcastle and Bolton boss Allardyce said: "Sunderland are a great club so of course I'd be interested." Hull City's Phil Brown, former West Ham manager Alan Curbishley, and ex-England and current FC Twente coach Steve McClaren are also in the frame.
Allardyce, who has been without a job since he left Newcastle in January 2008, added: "I have huge respect for the chairman Niall Quinn and the job he has done."
Keane resigned as manager after a recent run of poor form that has seen Sunderland lose five of their last six games with the club slipping into the relegation zone.
Bigtips.co.uk thinks that Big Sam could well be the man for the Mackems.
