NFL Preview 2009 - Week 4

Two turnovers inside the 10 yard line cost us a clean sweep for the bets last week, but we still managed to escape with a small profit. Week 4's big match ups include Baltimore's trip to New England that will decide who will be Superbowl Favourite come Monday morning, along with that is Monday Nights Favrebowl, which sees Green Bay go into Minnesota to visit Brett Favre's unbeaten Vikings side.. That is a must watch!

Tennessee @ Jacksonville
A game that neither side can afford to lose, pits together two teams that are pretty similar.. Both want to control the ball with effective running games whilst being pretty ineffective passing the ball, and both are strong defensively especially against the run. The most likely scenario is that the sides will cancel each other out in what should be a cagey affair between these two familar divisional foes.. Last year the two matches yielded 27pts and 38pts, and it would be no surprise to see this game go low again given the importance of victory for both sides.
First pick: Under 41.5pts (generally available)

New York Jets @ New Orleans
These two unbeaten teams are proving to be amonst the Leagues elite this year and this should be a cracking game.. The Jets 'D' have had a tough start to the year so far, successfully shutting down Houston's and New England's high powered offenses before dealing with Chris Johnson and the Titan's last week.. The Jets blitzing packages should cause Drew Brees and the New Orleans Offense to have a few headaches.. And while New Orleans' own defense has shown definite signs of improvement , New York's offensive line is very strong and the Jets should be able to set up the pass through their strong running game... This should be a close affair and the 13/5 available with Ladbrokes for the Jets to win the game looks far too big.
Second Pick: N.Y Jets 13/5 with Ladbrokes

San Diego @ Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh have been involved in three games that have gone right down to the wire, they could have as easily been 3-0 as the 1-2 they are.. But I expect this to be a close call so the 6.5pts they are asked to give a good San Diego side looks too much especially without the influential Troy Polamanu.

Baltimore @ New England
Baltimore have started the season very impressively and are vying with the Patriots, Giants and Saints for outright Superbowl favouritsm.. That said I'm a little surprised that New England are asked to give up less than a Field Goal in this game.. Baltimore's revered defense have been shipping alot of points of points and yards so far this year. If the Ravens allow New England as many trips into the Red Zone as they allowed the Chargers in Week 2 then Baltimore will probably be sitting with their first loss of the season.. New England QB Tom Brady has had a slow start to the season but I don't expect this to last.. He is just too good.

Third Pick: Treble N.Y Jets +7pts, San Diego +6.5pts, New England -1.5pts all 10/11 with William Hill
