Review of NFL week 15

Week 15 The Road 2 perfection:

The “Path 2 Perfection” became the “Path 1 Perfection” as the Saints lost on Saturday to the previously slumping Cowboys. The Saints looked average (much like they have looked for most of the last 8 weeks), and this result will raise serious questions as to their status as Superbowl favourites! Questions will also be raised over the Cowboys’ reputation as last season failures, as this result and performance means their doubters may have to re-evaluate their outlook. So The Colts are the lone undefeated team, with Bet365 pricing them up at 5-1 for the perfect season. The Colts didn’t look overly convincing in beating the Jags 35-31, but their habit of playing their best and most composed football when it really matters at the end of tight games, is a good habit to be in. Their hardest task may be winning the next 2 games with a combination of starters and back-ups, but I wouldn’t back against them.

NFC:
The Saints result has left the value vultures (me included) circling around the NFC. With both top seeds (Saints & Vikings) now looking vulnerable, now could be the time to pounce for punters and lump on a team (possibly the Eagles or Cowboys) that could be hitting their strides at the right time going into the playoffs. Philly are 5-1 at Betfred to win the NFC, with Dallas at 14-1 at Totesport. Both bets scream good value to me as it always makes sense to back teams that are playing well and have momentum, rather than the top seeds that may be backing into the Playoffs and best form may be behind them.

AFC:
Things are heating up nicely in the AFC. The Colts already have home field advantage tied up, and the Chargers took a huge step towards the no2 seed and the second bye by beating their nearest rival Bengals in a close game. The real intrigue however can be found in the battle for the 6th seed and final playoff spot. A giant posse of teams are still in with a shout, with the Steelers and Titans pulling out late wins to stay in contention. The Titans are now best priced 125-1 to win the Superbowl. 2 weeks ago it was 300-1, what will it be in 2 more weeks I wonder? The Broncos look intent of fluffing their lines after losing at home to the lowly Raiders, so expect someone to sneak in the back door. If you can figure out who that will be, some great value will be out there if they can put a run together in the playoffs too.

Happy betting!
