NFL Playoffs Review
Divisional Playoff Weekend:
Personal Disappointment
It is with a heavy heart that I write this article this week. You may be thinking that is due to the sad death of Chicago Bears defender Gaines Adams, who passed away unexpectedly this week? No. Although obviously I do have sympathy. I have been dealing with my own death this week – the death of my beloved antepost bets!!! With some very encouraging payouts a mere two weeks away, lamentably ALL of my antepost bets bit the dust on the same horrific weekend. Bets involving Baltimore, Arizona, Dallas & San Diego all bit the dust. All that remains is a bet on the Colts to win the Superbowl. A silver lining you might say, but not if I said it was placed for my girlfriend. So if it wins, I’m probably faced with a Saturday trailing around the shops to spend her winnings (salt in the wounds). So not good! A poor weekend was compounded by my weekly bets suffering a similar fate. Not good at all, but this is gambling, you have to take the rough with the smooth and move on. I’m taking it as a sign from the betting Gods to get out now and finish for the season while some form of profit is still available to me. At least I’ll live to fight another day. I’LL GET YOU NEXT TIME GADGET!!!
NFC:
The Saints came out of their late season swoon by emphatically defeating the Cards. They looked awfully impressive and back to their early season form when they were routinely demolishing teams with ease. Whether they can demolish the Vikings with ease is unlikely, but after this performance it is easy to see why they are 4 pt favourites against the Vikings. Don’t count out the Vikings though. They have better balance than the Saints and it’s easy to see why Brett Favre’s miraculous return is fated to end in Miami. 13-8 at Stan James being the best price available on a Vikings win.
AFC:
I tipped up the Jets in this column at the end of the regular season when they were at 50-1 to win the Superbowl. They are now best priced at 8-1 and still not receiving much love and respect from the bookies. Their running attack and defence is awesome, and their supposed weak link (QB Mark Sanchez) has looked calm, composed and efficient. I smell an upset at the Colts this weekend. The Ravens showed last week, that strong Defence and efficient offense can cause the Colts problems. The Ravens made too many mistakes to make the Colts pay. If the Jets can avoid those mistakes, they stand a great chance of pulling off the upset. 50-1 was great value 4 weeks ago. 8-1 is still great value. Give the Jets the respect they deserve by getting your wallets out!
Happy betting!
