Bigtips.co.uk weekend sports round up – 2010 – week 11
After a stunning Thursday which left our followers 13 points in profit – BigTips got the weekend off to a great start by tipping the winner in the late night Wolverhampton handicap – Bold Adventure storming home at tipped odds of 7/2. There were two massive races on Saturday – the impressive Qaspal romping home in the Imperial Cup at Sandown and Vitznau winning the Lincoln trial at Wolverhampton. The obvious focus of this week’s racing is the massive Cheltenham festival which starts on Tuesday and lasts for four days – a great time to be a BigTips subscriber!
Onto Saturday’s football and the title race was again the big focus – Chelsea stuffed the Hammers 4-1 and Arsenal notched a late winner away to Hull in an interesting match. The Hull City midfielder George Boateng managed to get himself sent off, by poking Niklas Bendtner in the eye (rumours that Arsene Wenger asked him to, have yet to be proved) and then a horrible tackle earned him two bookings and a standing ovation from the home faithful – they love that sort of thing in Hull. Betting wise – Wolves win at Burnley was the best bet of the day, pre-match odds of 3.13.
Mothers everywhere enjoyed a Sunday lunch out but the Premier League rolled on and no doubt Wayne Rooney’s mum had a great time as she watched her son score twice as Man United barged past Fulham 3-0. In the late game, Man City served up some poor fare as they could only grab a late equaliser to draw 1-1 with Sunderland, making Steve Bruce’s brow that bit more furrowed. Some other football news saw David Beckham rupture his Achilles tendon and rule himself out of the world cup – Posh will have to re-think her holiday plans. Whilst everyone’s favourite sun-tanned lothario Phil Brown has been essentially sacked – although Hull are referring to it as gardening leave – make your own garden, sun-tan jokes here.
Onto cricket news now and England are in a great position to beat the mighty Bangladesh in the first test, after a big century from captain Cook (I’ve just discovered this joke) in the first innings, England require five more wickets in tomorrow’s final day to wrap up the win. Elsewhere the Indian Premier League has returned and with ITV4 featuring full coverage of every game it promises to be a great competition – my tip for the win is Mumbai Indians at 5/1 with Betfred.
