BigTips.co.uk World Cup betting advice Part Five
All of our Silver, Gold and World Cup subscribers received analysis of our antepost bets this summer. Part Five of this analysis is reproduced below. On this occasion these bets were ill advised, due largely to neither player being picked for their country. There is perhaps no argument with Milito however the selection policy of Fabio Capello left a lot to be desired.
World Cup Special bets:
Top Argentina Goalscorer
Alberto Diego Milito comes into the World Cup having scored 32 goals for his club side Inter Milan last season, including that Champions League Final winning brace against Bayern. He’s clearly not afraid of the big stage and should get amongst the goals if given the chance in South Africa. 9/1 for him to be the top scorer for Argentina is a very appealing price. Messi is the obvious danger but he is priced as short as 11/10. The main danger with this bet is that Milito is not picked by Maradona and given his crazy team selections in the past, anything is possible! Even so, we believe that if he’s given the chance he’ll continue his red hot goalscoring form and is worth backing at 9/1.
Recommendation: 2pts win Diego Milito @ 9/1 with William Hill, Bet365 or Boylesports
Top England Goalscorer
He may be unpleasing on the eye, but you can’t argue with Peter Crouch’s goal record for England. Crouch has now scored 17 goals in 18 starts for England and is available at a mouth watering 9/1 to be England’s top goalscorer in South Africa. It is hard to make a case for backing Wayne Rooney in this market at odds of 6/4. Particularly given that there will be injury doubts over England’s talisman, who incidentally has not scored for club or country in 474 minutes and only once during England’s qualification. Crouch does not seem to be a favourite of Capello, however he is short of credible alternatives and so the gangly one is well worth a punt at 9/1 to be England’s top goalscorer this summer.
Recommendation: 2pts win Peter Crouch @ 9/1 with Blue Square, Paddy Power or William Hill
